What this album does really REALLY well is create a vibe-y atmospheric soup of all these chamber instruments. Makes you feel like you’re walking in the in snow in NYC-greatest-city-on-earth; but not some bullshit Christmastime snow, like you’re trudging through it on the way to whatever job you have that permits you live here and you haven’t killed yourself yet for some reason.
- Zach Promesa (Little Arcs, Beaver Darn Recording Artist)
This album took longer to complete and far longer to release than I initially intended. It sometimes feels like prematurely opening up a time capsule to revisit it. It sat stagnant on hard drives for months / years at a time but never really felt dormant in my mind. Some aspects still hold relevance, some embarrassing, others I have no idea what I was thinking (both good and bad). But overall, I feel the same pride listening to these songs now
that I did when I started writing them in 2017 (roughly).
A few Thank You's:
Joe Vilardi- For the encouragement, patience, and support in the early days during the initial tracking out of your (at the time) 10ft X 10ft bedroom.
Dalton Harts- For mixing and making sonic sense of the chaos that is "Jolly Ball", without neutering it. Who wants a "Jolly" album?
Alexa Barchini- For playing and workshopping the earliest versions of these songs. Without those moments of growth and spitballing this material would have lived on a google drive folder for eternity.
Julian Shore- My New York Musical Sherpa since 2015. Thanks for getting this thing mastered and the bottomless pit of support you've shown towards music I've made for the past 8 years.
Michael Perez-Cisneros- Thanks for mastering this 7 separate times... and offering to master an 8th every time we talk.
Zach Gibserson - Moral and slime contributions.
Alright, here's "Jolly Ball". Enjoy.
